Linda Tatum & Peggy Koons

How Linda and Peggy came to own a flower shop in downtown Los Angeles' financial district might not be the most direct or obvious tale, but it can be brief.

Linda's parents were Cattleya orchid growers; some of her earliest memories are those trips through a downtown Los Angeles that still heard the echoing clangs of Red Cars (trolleys, for you newbies) and whose Broadway theatre district boasted no fewer than a dozen majestic movie houses, back when half the attraction was the venue and not its proximity to a TGIFriday's or Barnes and Noble.

Perhaps it was her mom's relating of downtown's "good old days" that inspired Peggy to move into one of the newly renovated loft spaces that were just appearing a couple of years ago. Whatever the impetus, Peggy was there.

The only remaining, and naturally the last, piece to fall into place was the right opportunity. This would come Fall of 2004 in the form of Don and Cece Mills, the owners of Cece's Grand Expressions, a busy flower shop in the beautifully refurbished Barker Brothers Furniture Building on West 7th St.( between Figueroa and Flower). Cece and Don were ready for a well-deserved retirement and had begun the search for suitable, like-minded folks who would continue and expand the business they'd built, perhaps infusing some freshness.

It took only one meeting for everyone to agree this was a fantastic match. In no time the business was sold and the next step, the hunt for a skilled floral designer, began....

Our Delivery Team

And from there it only got better and better. Rito, our downtown and midtown bicycle delivery person, has been just as important to our growth as any other team member. His admonitions of "don't make it taller than a doorway and let the water down at least to a half inch below the top of the vase" have proven popular with our customers as well.
